Tuolumne Wool Pile Jacket - Strawberry
The very first pile jackets of the 70s were made from a polyester fabric originally intended for toilet seat covers. We decided to go a different route.
The Tuolumne Wool Pile Jacket is made from 100% New Zealand Merino wool with a polyester backer. It features distinctive front sweep pockets, a full two-way reversible zipper for flexible styling and ventilation, and knit cuffs and hem to help seal out drafts.
Early pile jackets were often constructed with the pile facing inward, while modern fleece usually puts it on the outside. We added a two-way reversible zipper so you can decide for yourself.
Note that this jacket is called a pile jacket for a reason—it piles. If you're looking for a perfectly non-pilling fleece, you're in the wrong place. Beyond not wanting to pump this jacket full of chemicals, it's wool. It naturally pills with wear. We happen to think that's part of the charm. It gives the jacket the honest, broken-in character of the well-loved pile jackets that inspired it.

We charge a flat shipping rate of $10 for all domestic orders. Orders over $250 will receive free domestic shipping. Items are shipped using USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Tracking information will be issued upon shipment. Please allow up to 5 days for your order to be processed and shipped. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as the label is created.
Domestic Refunds / Exchanges
Big Rock Candy Mountaineering full-price purchases returned within 14 days of their arrival date that are in new, unworn, and original condition are eligible for a full refund or an exchange. All 'Last Call Sale' items are final sale.

Items must be returned in good sellable condition. Please return the items in their original poly bag with the hangtags attached and the packaging properly sealed. This ensures the product arrives undamaged and you can receive your full refund/exchange.

Big Rock Candy Mountaineering reserves the right to reject returns if it determines, in its sole discretion, that the customer is attempting to return worn items or for any other exploitation of this return policy.
International Shipping & Returns
Orders under $250 USD ship for a flat $30 USD, and orders over $250 USD qualify for free international shipping.
All international orders are shipped with DHL and include tracking. Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be processed before shipment.
Duties, VAT, tariffs, and other applicable import taxes are calculated and collected at checkout. There are no surprise import fees due upon delivery.
