Inspired by the iconic French Varappe-style climbing shoe — the rugged footwear that found its way onto the feet of every dirtbag climber in Yosemite Valley and laid the groundwork for modern climbing shoes — the El Cap Boots pay tribute to that legacy while reimagining it for everyday life. We started by developing a custom last with modern footing to make them comfortable for everyday wear. The upper is crafted from premium leather with a soft leather lining and insole for all-day comfort and a break-in that only gets better over time. To boost durability where it counts, we reinforced the toe, heel, and mudguard with rubberized leather, echoing the rugged protection of classic outdoor footwear. Each pair comes with extra laces and a dust bag.

Domestic Shipping (USA)

We charge a flat shipping rate of $10 for all domestic orders. Orders over $250 will receive free domestic shipping. Items are shipped using USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Tracking information will be issued upon shipment. Please allow up to 5 days for your order to be processed and shipped. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as the label is created.


Domestic Refunds / Exchanges

Big Rock Candy Mountaineering full-price purchases returned within 14 days of their arrival date that are in new, unworn, and original condition are eligible for a full refund or an exchange. All sale/off-season items are final sale.

Please note that shipping and handling are NOT refundable. The cost of the return label provided will be deducted from your refund.

  • Once a return label is sent, you have 10 business days to drop off the return, or the refund/exchange will be canceled.

  • Items must be returned in good sellable condition. Please return the items in their original poly bag with the hangtags attached and the packaging properly sealed. This ensures the product arrives undamaged and you can receive your full refund/exchange.

  • Failure to follow these instructions may result in a rejection of your return/exchange.
